National Safety Council. We also offer motorcycle operator and licensure 
courses approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DRIVER SAFETY COURSE - NSC

The Driver Safety course, under the auspices of the National Safety Council 
(NSC), is designed to reinforce the fundamental principles of safe driving 
techniques with the goal being to reduce the number of traffic injuries and 
fatalities. With permission, this course may be taken once a year for the relief 
of traffic tickets and may be used toward insurance discounts depending on 
individual insurance companies. Students must pass a final exam to be issued 
a certificate. Certificates are mailed out from Austin after completion of class.

FIRE ACADEMY

The Community Services Division of Angelina College is pleased to announce 
the newly formed Municipal Fire Training Academy. This 544 hour academy is 
approved by The Texas Commission on Fire Protection and The Texas Higher 
Education Coordinating Board for certification of paid firefighter personnel. These 
courses also meet all requirements set by the NFPA Standards 1001. In addition, 
the Fire Academy will offer the certification course in Fire and Arson Investigation 
and a Methods of Teaching course. A Basic EMT Certification course will be held 
at the end of each academy. The cost for this course will be $250.00. For more

Angelina College Community Services offers insurance agent 
initial licensing courses in General Lines Life & Health, General 
Lines Property & Casualty, Insurance Service Representative, 
Managing General Agent, Surplus Lines, Life & Health Insurance 
Counselor, Limited Times, Adjuster all Lines, Adjuster Property & 
Casualty, Adjuster Workers Comp, Risk Manager, and Public Insurance 
Adjuster. In addition, the college will process examination applications 
and assist the student to schedule examiners with PROMISSOR, the 
testing agency for licensure. Most testing fees are $65.00 per exam. All 
licenses are issued by the Texas Department of Insurance. All textbooks 
may be obtained in the college bookstore in person or on-line at 
angelina.edu/bookstore. All textbooks come from BISYS.

INSURANCE AGENTS CONTINUING EDUCATION

Angelina College is a registered sponsor of relicensure continuing 
education courses for insurance agents through the Texas State 
Board of Insurance. Agents must earn 30 hours of CE by each 
renewal date including 2 hours of ETHICS during each two-year 
renewal cycle. Holders of Limited Lines, Life Insurance not exceeding 
$15,000, and County Mutual Licenses must earn 10 hours of CE by 
each renewal including 2 hours in ETHICS. Angelina College offers a 
wide variety of CE courses each semester and textbook from BISYS 
may be obtained in the college bookstore.

POLICE ACADEMY

Angelina College was awarded a license to operate a Police Academy, 
in the twelve Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) 
counties on September 15, 1993, by the Texas Commission on Law 
Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE). The Academy
